Hope you found our article on ‘Saving money on your travel bills useful’. Here’s the link, if you still haven’t got a chance to read it. (https://tinyurl.com/yyjqgyzw)

This is our 2nd part in series on saving money and we thought to cover the 2nd biggest bucket in our expenses i.e. General Expenses.
While these are mostly invisible however if you record them, they end up putting quite a heavy toll on your purses. By General expenses, we mean getting a haircut, buying grocery items, shopping etc.
So few tricks we use on a daily basis to reduce some of those expenses. Few tricks up our sleeve:

Going Digital: Who would have thought that there would actually be a monetary benefit in going digital and making all your transactions transparent. I regularly use PhonePe and Paytm to pay for my Uber, milk bills, restaurant bill, etc and sometimes I am able to get up to 10 Rs discount on a 42 Rs milk i.e. Getting it at a cheaper rate than ten years before.
All the major fast food joints i.e. Mcdonalds, KFC, Goli Vada pav, etc have also partnered with them thus giving discounts upto 25% on your meals.

Going to your local market: This is so contrary to my 1st point though what I have figured out is that our local vendors are still able to beat the Amazon of the world, when it comes to pricing.
Most of the times sites like Amazon,/Flipkart advertises 2-3 items where they have lowered the price though on an overall basis they would end up selling you at a higher rate than the local vendors.
Our observation is that non branded items are cheaper in local market, online shopping turns out cheaper for branded ones.
OLX/Quikr: We have got so much old stuff lying all around. Just look around - Isn’t there something which you haven’t used for a year and it’s there occupying the space.
You definitely have a reason to keep it as it was given by your bestie or your favorite aunt. However on rational front, you haven’t used it in a while and it’s a product which is just occupying space in your house.
I try to follow a simple rule over here: Anything which is lying for more than a year and hasn’t being used, should be discarded.
If we require it in the future, we will buy a new one - though there should not be things lying idle at home.
I can assure you that OLX/Quikr has made it super easy to sell stuff online for free.
Another suggestion: Psychologically we over value the products we own. Thus, you might feel that your Air conditioner is completely new and should get sold for 30k. Though it’s actual value might lie somewhere 10-15% less.

Nearbuy.com: This is an interesting app which helps you a lot of great offers on restaurants, spa, and saloons. I have been regularly saving around 30% on the daily expenses like hair cutting, saloon using this app.
I would definitely recommend you to give it a try and find some great offers on things we just take it for granted.

CRED: This is an app which I use to pay my Credit Card bills. There is catch that you need a Credit score of 750 or above to become a member of CRED. However, don’t worry, as they will automaticallyy calculate it for you and yes would also send you a timely reminder along with the break up of your credit card bills.
Based on your credit card bills, you get points which you can utilize for various services with which they have tied up.
Referral Code : You can use this referral code to join CRED and you will get an exclusive gift card from Uber. https://cred.onelink.me/spQx/da744933
